This article by Belinda Witzenhausen sums up so much of what I aspire to do through the opening of my studio and gallery. I am creating an outlet to help feed the creative passions and souls in the community. I have found what I needed to feed mine by doing so.

The hands on activities getting young artists & adults creating together for some Family Fun have come and gone for the fall. Along with colour and shape exploration, jar-o-lanterns and paper globes have been made and proudly displayed! January brings the start of some new and exciting weekend projects.

Well the final Adult Art Class really was a wrap up with the exploration of painting on silk. I expected results that would appear or be similar to a more ‘crafty’ creation but I was pleasantly surprised to find that painting on silk with dyes and resists allowed one to be very expressive and artistic. I enjoyed it so much I have currently painted and designed 13 silk scarves! It was a class for any and all levels of artistic ability and exploration that resulted in a lot of creative motivation.

The Landscape class inspired me to have a new appreciation for realistically painting landscapes. Watching the styles and techniques each participant brought with them to class just might have me painting more realistic landscapes along with my abstracted expressive landscapes.

Both classes are ones I will hold again! Keep posted and check back for updates so you don’t miss out!

In another whirlwind of creativity the gallery got put together and organized with a few tucks here and there and hiding extra supplies in a neighbouring room after Art Camp ended.
The community response was wonderful and the buzz of discussion has been created. The classes are gaining participants and the gallery walls are filled. It has been an exciting adventure every day and the uncertainty of a new concept business in the works keeps me motivated and dedicated to give it my all.
An enormous thank you to friends and family who gave their time and efforts to help me out. Could never make it work without you! Thanks to all the artists and musicians who share their passion and time creating and offering something to the space.
